Signing a Covenant

As an employer, your contribution to ending disparity is to ensure your organisation has a culture and practice which supports the recruitment and retention of Indigenous staff. By becoming an AEC employer, you and your organisation will be joining your corporate and business peers in this movement for change, both symbolic and real.

As a signatory to the Covenant, your organisation will receive support from the AEC. We will share our knowledge and guide you through the process of how to effectively and successfully engage Indigenous workers. This is done through the Covenant Activation Plan (CAP).

Further to the support from the Covenant Activation Plan (click here to read about the Covenant Activation Plan) the AEC also offers Covenant partners:

  • A free Employer Support Workshop – This workshop will assist in the implementation of a workplace buddy program as you employ Indigenous Australians. This is proven to increase Indigenous staff retention rates and reduce churn. Many employers have clearly demonstrated the value of a buddy program.
  • Free recruitment advertising on the AEC electronic Jobs Board. With over 3000 training and recruitment providers subscribed to receive notifications of jobs posted on this site, AEC employer value this added dimension of their involvement in the Covenant as their forecasted jobs become vacancies and are advertised.
  • Free profile/publicity- many of Australia's leading employers have joined the AEC. Your business name and a link to your website will appear in the Employer section on the AEC Fifty Thousand Jobs website.
  • An acknowledgement certificate recognising your participation in the AEC and your status as an Employer of Choice for Indigenous Australians.
  • Use of AEC branding. You are welcome to promote your partnership with the AEC and use our logo in your marketing materials and promotional activities. In addition, you may also find benefit in referring to your commitment in any tendering document you to demonstrate an Indigenous Employment Strategy.
